Walmart Cuts Prices on Thousands of Products This Summer — Including Ground Beef, Soda and Fresh Produce

Walmart has announced a broad round of price reductions across thousands of products at both its flagship stores and Sam’s Club locations, effective throughout the summer — with cuts spanning groceries, household essentials, snacks, outdoor goods, toys and apparel.
The announcement, made on 6 July, drew immediate attention from President Donald Trump, who praised the retailer and called on other chains to follow its example.
What is getting cheaper and by how much
Ground beef is among the headline reductions. A one-pound roll of 73% lean ground beef at Walmart will drop 12%, falling from $6.74 to $5.94. At Sam’s Club, Member’s Mark 88/12 ground beef will see a 3% reduction, moving from $6.17 to $5.97 per pound.
Fresh produce is seeing some of the sharpest cuts. Sweet corn on the cob will fall from $0.68 to $0.25 per ear, and a 2.25-pound bag of fresh red cherries will drop from $11.18 to $5.63 — a reduction of nearly half.
Shoppers stocking up for summer gatherings will also find lower prices on popular beverages. Twenty-four-packs of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar will drop from $14.97 to $9.97. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr Pepper and Diet Mountain Dew 24-packs will fall from $13.97 to $9.97.
Other notable reductions include:
- Great Value Ice Cream 48 fluid ounces: from $2.97 to $2.50
- Lay’s Classic Potato Chips 8-ounce bag: from $2.97 to $2.50
- Frito-Lay Family Fun Variety Pack 18-count: from $9.97 to $8.97
- Great Value Disposable Paper Plates 200-count: from $9.97 to $8.97
What Walmart said
Julie Barber, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Walmart US, framed the cuts as a direct response to what shoppers need during the summer months. “Customers count on Walmart to deliver the value they need every day, and summer is no exception,” she said.
The company confirmed the reductions cover a wide range of categories beyond food, including outdoor living and clothing, with thousands of individual product lines affected across both Walmart and Sam’s Club.
The political dimension
President Trump highlighted the announcement on Truth Social, describing Walmart as a patriotic company and calling the move a huge deal for American consumers. He urged other retailers to follow suit.
The price cuts arrive at a moment when household budgets remain under pressure from elevated food costs, making the reductions — particularly on everyday staples like ground beef, fresh produce and soft drinks — directly relevant to millions of families heading into the summer season.
